Animal Control/Pet Licenses
All animals in Chatham County must be registered with the Chatham County Animal Control Center. You are required to have proof of current rabies vaccinations. There is a fee for the tag.

Automobile Information

Driver's License

Georgia driver's license information.
The Chatham County Driver's License Service Office is located at 1117 Eisenhower Drive. It is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Car Tags/Registration
New residents of Georgia must buy their vehicle license tax within 30 days of establishing residency. The tag must be purchased in the county in which you reside. Go to the Chatham County Tag Office at 1117 Eisenhower Drive, east of Waters Avenue on Savannah's Southside. The phone number is (912) 652-6800.

Remember to bring your current registration, title, name and address of the lienholder or a copy of the lease agreement, as well as proof of insurance. Permanent residents can get their tags and ad valorem tax renewed each year by mail. The taxes are due on the birthday of the registered vehicle's owner.

Marriage Licenses
Both you and your betrothed must be at least 18 years old and present blood-test results on premarital state forms available at the Chatham County Health Department, 2011 Eisenhower Drive, (southside), and present identification and a fee to the Probate Court, Room 509, Chatham County Courthouse, 133 Montgomery St. (downtown).

Schools

To register new students:
* Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1st to enter kindergarten and 6 years old on or before September 1st to enter the first grade.
* To register, bring the child's birth certificate, immunization records on Georgia state forms, vision, hearing and dental screening from your family physician or local health clinic, a Social Security card, proof of residency in the specified school zone, and the previous year's report card if a transfer student.

Voter Registration
* You must be a U.S. citizen to vote, be at least 18 years old, mentally sound, and not under conviction of a felony.
* You must register 30 days before the election in which you wish to vote.
